Making an Ultimate goal of data Management (MUM):
Practical Techniques for Complying with the Data Protection Law
Rationale and Purpose
The Personal Data Protection Act 2019 stands as a pivotal piece of legislation for all organizations, be they governmental, state-run, or private enterprises. Given the vast amount of personal data these entities have to fulfill their missions, it is compulsory that they adopt strict guidelines for personal data management. Without complying with to this Act, organizations risk encountering operational disruptions and various legal liabilities and potential criminal penalties including fines or imprisonment, or even administrative sanctions. Beyond these legal ramifications, there is an intangible yet severe consequence: a tarnished reputation. This kind of damage, incalculable in monetary terms, can take extensive time and effort to rebuild.
With the rise in demand for understanding these laws, many institutions now have offered legal training courses on personal data protection. Our School of Law is a notable mention, having introduced training courses since the Act was published in the Royal Gazette. Our course, titled "Personal Data Management Techniques in Accordance with Thai Law and European Standards," is curated based on the real-world challenges faced by various organizations so as to ensure that the curriculum is tailored to address genuine issues in practice. Our unique aspect of the course is its roster of experts: both academics and industry professionals adept in personal data protection law. Their collective expertise, derived from roles as consultants for prominent national entities or as Data Protection Officers, ensures a blend of theoretical and practical insights.
