Ph.D Program

  1. Admission Qualifications and Requirements

Plan A

  1. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Laws from the academic institution accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE).
  2. Applicant must have Fundamental knowledge of English, as required by the institute.

Applicants must passthe English Proficiency Examination with a TOEFL scoreof more than 500, computer-base score of more than 173, Internet-base (IBT) score of more than 61, or IELTS score of 5.5. In this regard, the institute allows the applicant who obtains TOEFL score of up to 450 or equivalent with his/her TOEFL score does not exceed 2 years from the date of application. In case where the applicant obtained TOEFL score of 450-549, the applicant is required to take a Basic English provided by the institute

  1. Applicants have experience in conducting research for at least one topic
  2. Applicants are required to study full-time

Plan B

  1. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Laws from the academic institution accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE).
  2. Applicant must have Fundamental knowledge of English, as required by the institute.

Applicants must passthe English Proficiency Examination with a TOEFL scoreof more than 500, computer-base score of more than 173, Internet-base (IBT) score of more than 61, or IELTS score of 5.5. In this regard, the institute allows the applicant who obtains TOEFL score of up to 450 or equivalent with his/her TOEFL score does not exceed 2 years from the date of application. Plan C

  1. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree in Laws from the academic institution accredited by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE) or must have at least 1 year’s work experience.
  2. Applicant must have Fundamental knowledge of English, as required by the institute.

Applicants must passthe English Proficiency Examination with a TOEFL scoreof more than 500, computer-base score of more than 173, Internet-base (IBT) score of more than 61, or IELTS score of 5.5. In this regard, the institute allows the applicant who obtains TOEFL score of up to 450 or equivalent with his/her TOEFL score does not exceed 2 years from the date of application. In case where the applicant obtained TOEFL score of 450-549, the applicant is required to take a basic English provided by the institute

  1. Applicants are required to study full-time
  2. Application

2.1 Application form is provided at Educational Service Division, or Graduate School of Law, National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA). Additionally, applicants are eligible to download application from at www.law.nida.ac.th     

2.2 Fill application from via NIDA’s website

     2.2.1 enter into Graduate School of Law’s website and click “download” application form

     2.2.2 print out application form with A4 paper

2.3 Application can be proceeded as follows

     2.3.1 Individually submit application form associated with documents specified in Clause 3 to Educational Service Division (from 8.30am-4.30pm)

    2.3.2 Individually submit application form associated with documents specified in Clause 3 to Graduate School of Law (from 8.30am-4.30pm)

3.  Required Documents and Application Fees

  1. Application form (can be downloaded at www.law.nida.ac.th)
  2. A copy of certificate of bachelor’s degree in law and master’s degree in law
  3. A copy of official transcript
  4. A copy of identification card
  5. Evidence of change of name or surname (if changed)
  6. 2 one- inch photos (regardless academic gown)
  7. Letter of confirmation of funding support from any agency in case of being selected as a student (if any)
  8. Statement of Purpose (in Thai) of not more than 10 A4 pages (specifically for Plan B)
  9. Applicants are required to submit thesis Proposal to the Graduate School of Law’s Committee. The thesis proposal shall include research topic, research significance, research objectives, literature reviews, scope of research, and research methodology. In addition, the thesis proposal should not exceed 10 A4 pages (especially for Plan A and Plan B)

     Note: In any case, all documents submitted to the Graduate School of Law shall not be returned to the applicants.

In regard to the applicants who graduated overseas, additional documents must be submitted as follows:

  1. Equivalency certification issued by the Commission on Higher Education (CHE). Applicants can contact the Bureau of Standards and Evaluation in Higher Education, Commission on Higher Education (CHE).
  2. Certificate of graduation from the institute. The institute shall directly hand in such certificate to

4. Selection Criteria

    Selection criteria of Ph. D program consists of

  1. Qualification consideration from application form
  2. Interview

 

  1. Qualification consideration from application form

The Committee shall consider and select the applicants from their general qualifications namely major field of study, Master’s degree academic record, age, work experience, type of work, and opportunity of knowledge adoption in the future. Accordingly, the applicants shall completely fill out all details associated with all required documents.  

 

  1. Interview

The committee shall interview the applicants.

Note: Selective criteria of Ph.D candidates shall be subject to the program committee’s discretion. As a result, the decision of the committee is deemed final.

5. Announcement of List of Candidates/ Interview Schedule

  The institute shall announce list of candidates, date, time, and place of interview as well as determine interview schedule at the Graduate School of Law or via the Graduate School of Law’s website.

6. Announcement of Selection Process

   The institute shall announce selection process at the Graduate School of Law or via the Graduate School of Law’s website.

7. Registration

  Applicants who are selected to be candidates shall, by themselves or assigned a person on their behalf with a proxy presented coupled with a copy of candidate’s ID card and proxy holder’s ID card, register the course at educational service division as well as file all documents according to Clause 8 to all bank branches as follows:   

  1. Thai Farmer Bank
  2. Bangkok Bank
  3. Thai Commercial Bank
  4. Bank of Ayudhya

To make a payment at the aforesaid banks, the applicants shall use invoice form issued by the institute ONLY. Applicants DO NOT use bank deposit slip.

8. Required Documents for Registration

  1. Three copies of certificates of bachelor’s degree in law and master’s degree in law
  2. Three copies of official transcripts of Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree 
  3. Two copies of identification cards
  4. A copy of household registration
  5. 3 one-inch photo (dress properly, do not put on academic gown)
  6. Three copies of evidence of change of name or surname (if changed)
  7. One Medical certificate (original)
